উন্নতির লক্ষ্মণ নেই জনপ্রিয় কণ্ঠশিল্পী এন্ড্রু কিশোরের। শারীরিক অবস্থার ক্রমশ অবনতি হচ্ছে। কথা বলতে পারছেন না তিনি। এমনটাই জানা গেল শিল্পীর পরিবারের তরফ থেকে। এন্ড্রু কিশোর এখন রাজশাহীর মহিষবাথানে বোন ডা. শিখা রানি বিশ্বাসের বাসায় রয়েছেন। যে কোনো সময় যে কোনো ঘটে যেতে পারে বলে জানালেন পরিবারের এক সদস্য।

সোমবার দুপুরে (৬ জুলাই) শারীরিক অবস্থা সম্পর্কে এন্ড্রু কিশোরের খালাতো ভাই কালের কণ্ঠকে বলেন, ‘উন্নতি নয়ই বরঞ্চ দাদার অবস্থা সময়ের সাথে সাথে খারাপ হচ্ছে। তিনি কথা বলতে পারছেন না। ক্যান্সার হলে যেটা হয় আর কি। এখন একমাত্র প্রার্থনা ছাড়া আর করার কিছুই নেই আমাদের।’

এদিকে বাবার এমন অবস্থায় অস্ট্রেলিয়ায় থাকা দুই ছেলে-মেয়ে দেশে ফেরার জন্য প্রস্তুতি নিচ্ছেন। কেননা এ অবস্থায় অন্তত বাবার পাশে থাকতে চান। টিকিট পাওয়ামাত্রই তাঁরা র ওনা দেবেন বলে জানা গেছে। এন্ড্রু কিশোরের এক ছেলে ও এক মেয়ে। তাঁরা দুজনই অস্ট্রেলিয়া থাকেন। মেয়ে মিনিম এন্ড্রু সংজ্ঞা সিডনিতে গ্রাফিক ডিজাইন ও ছেলে জে এন্ড্রু সপ্তক মেলবোর্নে ফ্যাশন ডিজাইনিংয়ে পড়াশোনা করছেন। বাবার সঙ্গে তাঁদের সব সময়ই যোগাযোগ হচ্ছিল।

সিঙ্গাপুর থেকে চিকিৎসা নিয়ে দেশে ফিরেছিলেন মাত্র ক’দিন আগে। ক্যান্সারের সাথে লড়াই করে সুস্থ হয়ে দেশে ফেরার পরেও যেন পুরোপুরিও সুস্থ হতে পারেননি। তাঁর অবস্থা এখনসঙ্কটাপন্ন। দিন দিন তার অবস্থার অবনতি হচ্ছে, দিতে হচ্ছে অক্সিজেন সাপোর্ট। বিষয়টি কালের কণ্ঠকে নিশ্চিত করেছেন এন্ড্রু কিশোরের খালাতো ভাই রেমন্ড তপু।

শরীরে নানা ধরনের জটিলতা নিয়ে এন্ড্রু কিশোর অসুস্থ অবস্থায় গত বছরের ৯ সেপ্টেম্বর উন্নত চিকিৎসার জন্য সিঙ্গাপুরের উদ্দেশে দেশ ছেড়েছিলেন। বিভিন্ন পরীক্ষা-নিরীক্ষার পর গত ১৮ সেপ্টেম্বর তাঁর শরীরে নন-হজকিন লিম্ফোমা নামের ব্লাড ক্যানসার ধরা পড়ে। সিঙ্গাপুর জেনারেল হাসপাতালের চিকিৎসক লিম সুন থাইয়ের অধীনে তাঁর চিকিৎসা শুরু হয়। এই কয়েক মাস ধরে সিঙ্গাপুরে তাঁর চিকিৎসা চলে।
এন্ড্রু কিশোরের চিকিৎসায় সহায়তার হাত বাড়ান প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা। ব্যয়বহুল এই চিকিৎসার খরচ জোগাতে বিক্রি করে দেন রাজশাহী শহরে তাঁর কেনা ফ্ল্যাটটি। শিল্পীর পরিবারের পাশাপাশি সংগীতশিল্পী, মিডিয়া ব্যক্তিত্ব, বেশ কিছু প্রতিষ্ঠান এবং প্রবাসীরা এগিয়ে এসেছেন। গেল ফেব্রুয়ারিতে সিঙ্গাপুর বিজনেস সোসাইটি এবং বাংলাদেশ চেম্বারের আয়োজনে সিঙ্গাপুরের স্থানীয় গেটওয়ে থিয়েটার হলে আয়োজন করা হয় ‘এন্ড্রু কিশোরের জন্য ভালোবাসা’ শিরোনামের সংগীতানুষ্ঠান। সিঙ্গাপুরে নিযুক্ত বাংলাদেশের রাষ্ট্রদূত মোস্তাফিজুর রহমানের উপস্থিতিতে অনুষ্ঠানে সংগীত পরিবেশন করেন কিংবদন্তি কণ্ঠশিল্পী সৈয়দ আব্দুল হাদী, সাবিনা ইয়াসমীন, মিতালী মুখার্জি, মোমিন বিশ্বাস, জাহাঙ্গীর সাঈদ ও মিলিয়া সাবেদ।

এন্ড্রু কিশোরের এক ছেলে ও এক মেয়ে। তাঁরা দুজনেই অস্ট্রেলিয়া থাকেন। মেয়ে মিনিম এন্ড্রু সংজ্ঞা সিডনিতে গ্রাফিকস ডিজাইন ও ছেলে জে এন্ড্রু সপ্তক মেলবোর্নে ফ্যাশন ডিজাইনিংয়ে পড়াশোনা করছেন।

সংগীতজীবনের শুরুতে আবদুল আজিজ বাচ্চুর অধীনে প্রাথমিকভাবে সংগীতচর্চা শুরু করেন এন্ড্রু কিশোর। চলচ্চিত্রে তাঁর প্লেব্যাক যাত্রা শুরু হয় ১৯৭৭ সালে আলম খান সুরারোপিত ‘মেইল ট্রেন’ চলচ্চিত্রের ‘অচিনপুরের রাজকুমারী নেই যে তার কেউ’ গানের মধ্য দিয়ে। এরপর তাঁর গাওয়া অনেক গান জনপ্রিয় হয়। বাংলা চলচ্চিত্রের গানে অবদান রাখার জন্য তিনি কয়েকবার জাতীয় চলচ্চিত্র পুরস্কার পেয়েছেন।
